Khiem and I almost stepped on this water dragon when we were walking around the Wollongong Botanic Gardens one lunchtime, looking for things to photograph. He was extremely well camoflaged in the dappled shade of the walking track.
The judge in the KSCC competition liked the sharpness of the head and front leg of the lizard. He especially liked the sharp eye, with a bit of a catchlight in it. The blurred body still holds enough detail that you can tell what it is, while the selective focus directs the viewer back to the lizard's head.
